Alert as we may be, poignant moments may pass us by unnoticed. Yet, through the imagery and resonance of poetry, we can recreate and explore that which has vanished.
If the poet is successful, pieces of a mosaic will be held up to the light and the remainder of the picture will be implied—enticing the reader to imagine its entirety. Or, in another poem, a view through a keyhole will intimate a narrative ongoing in the rooms and shadows hidden from one’s sight—inviting the reader to wonder about the rest of the story.
With this as a guiding perspective, John Middlebrook welcomes you to join his search for insights beneath the surface and for voices yet unheard.
