About John Middlebrook

I live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where I manage a consulting firm focused on non-profit organizations. I have been writing creatively since I was a graduate student at the University of Chicago, where I also served on the staff of Chicago Review. My poetry has appeared in many publications, and a full list of them can be found here.

My Perspective

As surely as daylight hides the stars, many poignant moments pass us by unnoticed. Yet, it is in this context that poetry flourishes: the language, imagery, and resonance of poetry can serve to uncover and animate experiences that slip our grasp or seem inaccessible. The inner workings, the chimes and sparks of a poem can engender wonder, wire connections, and render a new clarity—much like fragments of glass or stones can intimate the outlines of a grand mosaic, a constellation of glimmering colors.

With this as my guiding perspective, I welcome you to join my search for insights beneath the surface and for voices longing to be heard.
